Have you ever struggled to communicate your research topic because you didn’t know how to address the topic of animal research?
Communicating animal research is one of the most challenging and controversial topics in science communication. How can researchers communicate their work openly and transparently when the subject is emotionally charged and public attitudes are diverse? What information is needed to enable an informed discussion, and how can pro-active communication help build trust without becoming one-sided advocacy?
We are thrilled to invite you to our upcoming jNWG BrainTalks in cooperation with the German information initiative Tierversuche verstehen!
Roman Stilling and Jana Wilken will introduce their work in communicating animal research to the public. They will also discuss the particular challenges of communicating animal research and present examples of different communication approaches – from explaining methods and legal frameworks to providing insights into animal welfare, the 3Rs and individual research projects.
The webinar will conclude with an open discussion on how researchers, science communicators and institutions can contribute to a transparent and constructive public debate about animal research.
